The Folly

An extraordinary historic house and museum in Settle, nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.

The Museum of North Craven Life tells the story of North Craven, starting from the local landscape and its influence on all aspects of life in the area.

Today the Museum is housed in The Folly, a 17th century gentleman’s residence in Settle.

Victoria Hall

Settle Victoria Hall is a Grade II listed working Victorian Music Hall with a wide programme of theatre, comedy, film and live music is supplemented by community events, workshops and indoor markets.

Victoria Hall was opened on 11 October 1853, and has been at the heart of community and culture in Settle ever since. We operate as an award-winning and successful social business, bringing arts, culture, and community space to our beautiful corner of North Yorkshire. Settle Victoria Hall Ltd. is a registered charity run by a small management team, and supported by trustees and volunteers, independent of local authorities.

Settle to Carlisle Railway

The Settle–Carlisle line is a 73-mile-long main railway line which crosses the remote, scenic regions of the Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines, running between Settle Junction, on the Leeds to Morecambe line, and Carlisle, near the English-Scottish borders. The historic line was constructed in the 1870s and has several notable tunnels and viaducts.

Settle Riverside Walk

Explore the lovely River Ribble on the Riverside walk which is suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs and cycles, and within easy reach of the town centre. It is 0.6mls (approx) from end to end and lies on the route of the Ribble Way, a 69-mile long-distance footpath that follows the River Ribble from its mouth to its source.

Castleberg Rock/Crag

The tall limestone rock of Castleberg has been recognised as a beauty spot for centuries, Today, Castleberg is owned by Settle Town Council and there is free public access either from Castleberg Lane or Constitution Hill. The Council manages the site both as a haven for wildlife and a beautiful place to visit.
