As we enjoy the Autumnal spectacle of colour and watch for salmon jumping up the River Ribble; – we are starting to prepare for the colder months ahead. At Langcliffe Park we know that the touring season extends throughout the year. Our all-weather pitches with electric hook up, and heated washrooms with hot showers, allow our site to stay open into mid-January for your adventures throughout all the seasons. Local events and activities continue through the winter, including seasonal markets and festivities.
Experience a frosty, early-morning walk through wonderful countryside, bathe in the quiet of a snow-covered landscape, enjoy a well-earned drink by a roaring fire or indulge in the wintery comfort menus, in a local pub or restaurant.
Expect it to be dark and remember it will be easier to arrive on site in daylight, then embrace the dark; encounter the difference of walking at night, explore the dark skies with their vivid constellations.
Understand your water set-up and decide when you will need to drain out all water to prevent damage from freezing, and be equipped with water bottles and alternatives for indoor water storage.
Check your kit and ensure your boots, water-proof clothing and torch/headtorch with batteries etc. are all in good condition.
Check the forecast, plan activities accordingly to stay safe and listen to the advice of locals. On wet days, it could be interesting to visit nearby showcaves or museums. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is England’s premier caving area, with the longest cave system in the country. Showcaves are at White Scar, Ingleborough and Stump Cross. Settle is home to The Museum of North Craven Life at The Folly, and nearby are The Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes, Nidderdale Museum in Pately Brdige and Grassington Folk Museum.
Be more ‘Hygge’ by finding contentment in simple things, such as sipping a hot drink, being wrapped in a cozy blanket, or reading a good book. Bring extra clothing/blankets/hot-water bottle to ensure that cosy feeling as you snuggle down inside your caravan, motorhome or campervan!
Settle in and get some extra sleep by having an early night, knowing that sleep is good for you too.
